Unfortunately, COVID-19 has caused the world to hibernate. Locking us away in our homes, with nothing to do for hours on end. Our minds resorting to sitting on our devices for hours at a time. However, all hope isn’t lost! Here are 14 things to do while trapped self-quarantining.
Start A Puzzle: As boring as it sounds, the satisfaction of finishing any puzzle is amazing! It allows you to focus, have fun, and gives you a calming task that can be done while listening to your favourite playlist/podcast.
Start A Journal: Journalism is extremely good for self-reflection. Take some time to reflect on the past week, month or year! Work on bettering yourself and jotting down any interesting thoughts!
Paint/Draw: Allow creativity to flow from your fingertips by creating some magnificent art! Express yourself with whatever medium you prefer, whether it be paint, coloured pencils, or plain old graphite.
Learn Embroidery: Create unique clothing by embroidering on anything you like! It can range from animal crossing, to Billie Eilish’s logo onto a t-shirt, crop top, crewneck, and more!
Read That Book You Always Wanted To Read: Stop putting it off! Dust off that book sitting on your bookshelf. The one you bought and claimed you would read but never really got around to. Immerse yourself in the story!
Find Your Aesthetic: Aesthetics allow individuals to express themselves in a visually pleasing way, and one that allows them to express themselves more openly. Use quizzes such as this one.
Write Short Stories: Get past that writers block! Use inspiration from current events or your imagination to create wonderful scriptures. This is an amazing way to keep your brain active and imaginative.
Write A Bucket List: Creating a bucket list allows you to map out things you always wanted/want to do! This gives you the chance to cross out things as soon as the quarantine is over!
Watch A TV Series/Movie You Always Wanted To: Remember that 8-season TV Show that you didn’t want to watch because you didn’t have the time? Well you have all the time in the world now! Binge watch that show and revel in your freedom.
Practice Self-Care: Self care ranges from meditation, to yoga, to bubble baths, to creating a new skincare routine. It is an all-encompassing term that basically means to take care of yourself and relax in this stressful period. Give back to your body, and take care of it as it takes care of you.
Fix Up Your Room: Deep clean your room! Get into all those nooks and crannies and get rid of any and all unneeded junk! Get rid of those cards you’re hoarding, or those old plushies. While you’re at it, redecorate and reorganize your room! Give it an entirely new feel to go hand-in-hand with its spring cleaning.
Knit or Crochet: Knitting and crocheting, although often seen as something only senior citizens do, is highly therapeutic. Its mindless repetition creates a sense of peace, and gives you some snazzy new socks made entirely by you!
Learn To Solve A Rubix Cube: Remember that rubix cube trend from a couple of years ago? Well, it’s now time to learn! Cross that item off the bucket list and take on this brain teaser!
Cook/Bake: Cooking/Baking isn’t only fun, but it also allows you to get a nice little snack out of it! Have fun and enjoy!
